I have measured my blood sugar every minute for a whole year. And here is what I found out. The order of food intake matters. If you eat vegetables first, then avocado, then meat or fish, and only then starchy side dishes, your blood sugar will rise lower, and your energy will be supplied for much longer. If you do the opposite, your blood sugar will rise as fast as possible and very high, and you will want to eat again sooner. If you add Greek yogurt to fruits, the blood sugar spike from the fruits will be twice as low, and you will have less desire to keep eating. It's all about fats and proteins. Pure carbohydrates always raise blood sugar higher and more sharply. For the same reason, fruit ice cream raises blood sugar three times higher than creamy ice cream. By the way, from Monday, we are giving up sweets together. Details are in the profile header. Neither lemon juice nor vinegar with the "mother" enzyme, before consuming carbohydrates, lowers the blood sugar spike. On the contrary, it increases it. Lemon juice does so by about 20%, and vinegar by even twice as much. The result shocked me a little. I am gathering a group of volunteers, and we will conduct a study on this topic with a larger sample size. A walk after a meal reduces the blood sugar spike from dessert by half. And if you eat it during the walk—that is, walk, eat something sweet, and then walk again—the blood sugar spike will decrease three times. Dry wine and champagne, just as they reduce the blood sugar spike from the meal you are drinking them with, also simply lower your current blood sugar level if you drink them without food. That also needs to be researched in more detail. Freezing a side dish reduces the blood sugar spike in your blood, but not as strongly as simple cooling in the refrigerator. At the same time, cooled side dishes are tastier than frozen ones and require less hassle. In general, it makes sense to cook a few days in advance, keep it in the refrigerator, and then reheat it. The blood sugar spike will decrease by about 20-30%. Cinnamon really lowers the blood sugar spike, by about 25%, if you want to be precise. Bread made from ground flax seeds, like bread made from almond flour, does not raise my blood sugar level. But bread made from green buckwheat does raise it—about the same as whole grain bread, and twice as low as a white baguette. 1 kilogram of cherries sends my blood sugar into the heavens—by as much as 4 millimoles. To be honest, it is not very fun to eat them on an empty stomach, but what won't you do for content? Write in the comments what to measure next. And don't forget to subscribe.
